Oracle DBA

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform database administration duties, including the creation, monitoring, support, maintenance of databases and database design/consulting in both the Oracle 12i and 10g environments.

POSITION ACTIVITIES AND TASKS:

• Create, develop and review the physical model created from the logical model ensuring the detailed physical design of the data structures and databases complies with standards and conventions
• Produce:
  • Entity relationship diagrams
  • Data definition language parameters
  • Database normalization schemas
  • Logical to physical database mapping
  • Review overall physical database structures for data integrity, performance quality, recoverability, maintenance an space requirements considerations
  • Assist in recommending and establishing standards, guidelines and procedures for all aspects of database optimization
  • Work closely with the application development teams to ensure proper data modeling and design paradigms are applied in the creation and ongoing maintenance of respective databases, to maximize data access efficiencies and toreview test benchmarks
  • Monitor and maintain databases
  • Assist in the definition and resolution of database problems
  • On-call responsibilities include 24-hour coverage
  • Monitor backups, reorganizations, upgrades and other database maintenance jobs
  • Restore database systems from backups when necessary
  • Participate in the database administration and other group’s projects
  • Participate in the evaluation and recommendations of database administration tools and new RDBMS technologies
  • Offer technical guidance to less experienced members of the database administration group

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION LEVEL PREFERRED

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Minimum 3 - 5 years experience with RDBMS programming
• 3 - 5 years experience in database optimization
• 3 - 5 years experience with an enterprise scaled RDBMS
• Experience in data extraction and migration
• Superior SQL skills
• Knowledge of the UNIX operating system and SAN storage; preferably on AIX
• Knowledge of SAP database administration and/or DB2 is a plus
• Oracle RAC
• Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g
• Excellent UNIX scripting skills
